CEDB Hydropower Development Company limited had issued Initial Public Offering to the general public from Baisakh 17 to Baisakh 21. This IPO has received an overwhelming response and oversubscribed by 11.24 times. 17 lakh 36 thousand and 7 hundred applicants had applied for 2 crores 63 lakh 45 thousand and 5 hundred units shares According to CDSC, 94.31 percent of the total applications received so far are online. Out of the total IPO applications of the company, 16 lakh 37 thousand 912 applications have been received online. Only the remaining 5.69 percent have physically gone to banks and financial institutions to buy shares. The second wave of coronavirus infections has led to a sharp rise in the number of online users. The number of online applications has been high since the government banned the use of banks and financial institutions on April 29. The company has issued 2,518,230 ordinary shares equal to Rs. 251,823,000, which is 30 percent of the issued capital Out of that, 2 percent or 50 thousand 365 shares have been allotted to the employees and 5 percent or 125 thousand 911 shares have been allotted to the collective investment fund and the remaining 23 lakh 41 thousand 954 shares will be distributed to the public. Shares will be distributed at a minimum rate of 10 lots as per the issue and distribution guideline. Accordingly, only 234,195 people will get shares at the rate of at least 10 lots. The rest of the applicants seem to be empty-handed.

CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited (CHDC), a public limited company incorporated under the prevalent laws of Nepal on Mangsir 15, 2066 (November 30, 2009). CEDB Hydropower Development Company Limited (CHDC) was founded by the then Clean Energy Development Bank to provide equity investment for hydropower projects to meet the energy needs of the nation. CHDC is currently mandated to invest in and develop Hydropower Projects. It has got three hydropower projects in operation and four projects at construction and development stages.
